My younger son turned 21yo last Dec. on the same day I turned 61:-) I bought his brother a Walther P-22 for his 21st B'day 3 years ago cuz I think everyone needs a 22 pistol, even if you are not "into" guns. My younger son prefers revolvers and so I just assumed he would be getting a HRR, then Ruger announced the new Wrangler and it started off as (usual for the USA) "unobtanium" and no one actually had them. His (an my) birthday is in Dec. so I waited till they "showed up". A few weeks before Thanksgiving they showed at the LGS, it was the same place I had purchased the P-22 and turned out to be the same price $199. I had the RR on the counter next to the Wrangler and they were $30 dif in price (enough for the 22wmr cylinder) and I chose the Wrangler based on fit and finish and the fact that I did not like the safety of the RR and felt the transfer bar was better/safer. So I purchased the pistol and then when I got home I started looking around at Wranglers, not for purchase, just looking around. After seeing someone put a birdshead frame on one, I then realized that it actually shared parts with the New Model Single Six and other Ruger SAs. I then decided on what "my" B'day present was going to be:-) I kinda went a bit overboard on mine, it will never leave my collection so "value" was not considered and while Ruger purists make think of the silk purse and a sows ear, I had a tremendously diverting and fun time modding out this pistol. The coins that I inlayed started off because Ruger emblems were so expensive and I looked through my coin collection and found this coin that "fit" for both subject matter and size, they are "trimes" or 3 cent silver pieces from the mid to late 1800s, 1st class postage was 3 cents at that time. It is a blast to shoot, we most shoot Colibris in an indoor 15 yards range in my workshop, before the Wranglers we shot top breaks, an old H&R premium and an Iver Johnson Supershot. These have "upped our game" in a big way, lol. Thanks for looking hope you enjoy.
