When I was offered the chance to get a new handgun while shopping at BASS, I immediately went to the Rough Rider. They had the Ruger Wrangler three cases to the left of me. The salesman even mentioned it to me as I examined the RR. I remember catching it from the corner of my eye when browsing. It was finished just like Blaze Tracy's. It was nice. I thought of the things people have posted about them at the old site. I told the guy to wrape up the Heritage, I was taking it home.
I know Heritage had horrible customer service when it comes to parts and repairs.
I know it takes forever to get things repaired and shipped compared to when they were privately owned.
I know it sucks that you get charged for a shipping label even if you a returning the gun for warranty work. (What the hell Taurus?)
I even know it's odd the Heritage only gets a 1 year warranty while Taurus products get lifetime warranties. (Again, what the hell?)
I know all this and that the Ruger shoots nice, but
I like how I get different cylinders as an option for the same price.
I like how the Heritage has four clicks when I pull the hammer.
I like the familiarity of the gun as I have my 6.5 version.
I like how it feels like an old friend in my hand.
I like that it shot every bit as well as my 6.5 when I shot it for the first time.
The Wrangler, Single Six, Bearcat, and all the other rimfire single actions are nice guns. I'll never knock them or put them down. They just aren't my flavor.
That's probably a good thing given this site.
