Added a touch of white to the blade, and a dot of red to the rear. Much easier to get a good sight pic. Getting the red just right was a real pain.

Apr 24, 2009#4 It was a real pain to get it just right. Must have applied and removed the red 20+ times. I wanted it to be the same width as the slot, but not actually go all the was up to the slot. That way I see the red, a thin line of black, and then the white. I though about you when I was putting on the white, Gene, I remembered something about you getting your barrel tweaked to get the sights to line up better. After it got good and dry, I slipped in my bore sighter, and sure enough, the sight picture to laser was off a tad to the left. So I compensated by removing a sliver of the white on the right side of the blade. Then when I center up on the white line, it's right on target to the laser. Taking it to the range in the morning to give it a run thru.

Apr 25, 2009#6 It's Testors model paint. Cleaned the metal first with alcohol. After I put on the paint, I heated the metal with a hair dryer and then let it dry for about 2 days. Locked it on quite well.
And did it ever make a difference. Went to the range this morning and the first 3 shots were about 1" high, but dead center windage. Trimmed a flake or two from the bottom and brought it right into the bull. I was shooting at about 8-10 yds. using the medium sized shoot-n-see targets. Nothing ever slipped out of the 9 ring, and most stayed nicely in the 10. Shot just over 150 rounds ( ran out, got to take more next time ), and had 1 FTF. Crummy Remy bulk ammo. Took along some Rem subsonic, and in a short barrel, that stuff is junk. It accounted for most of the 9 ringers. I guess it really needs a rifle length barrel to work well. Was going to take some stingers, but realized they are not brass case, and the range requires it. All in all, not a bad morning.
