Has anyone had any experience with trying to "antique" the matte finish on a RR? I have a 32 H&R and I am not too keen on it. I did read where someone did change the matte finish on a USFA. The pics looked good. The fellow told of using Flitz and vinegar. He didn't go into detail, so I was wondering if anyone here has done this? Also, would anyone know if the matte finish is the same or same type on the RR as on the USFA? I know the USFA is higher quality so I'm thinking the finish may be different, and or should be treated differently. Thanks in advance!!
Thanks,
Chuck

May 15, 2011#2 I'm not sure if the finninsh is the same or not. It sounds like the Flitz/vinegar acts like a "paint thinner" so it should work in theory.
For my accidental antiquing, I used Hoppes #9 all over the outside of the gun and rubbed it in pretty good. That antiqued it very well. (But mine is blued.)
