By Ulmus Jul 26, 2012#1 I read about this in Peterson's Four Wheel drive magazine and decided to take a closer look at it. www.metalrescue.com/home.aspxIt's a water based rust remover that you can get at Home Depot. You just knock off the dirt and set the item to be derusted into a tub of the chemical. It will take bluing off. A gallon of it is listed for $25, so I might get some in a few weeks and try the stuff out.

Intriguing. I'm interested in your results. I have two questions, though:
1. I thought license plates were made of aluminium?
2. How much do you have to buy to derust, say, a fender (the car part, not the guitar)?
3. How many does it take to tip the car's fender into the tray of juice?
Three. I have three questions.

Aug 01, 2012#3 1. I belive you are right. License plates are aluminum. This stuff must take the corrosion off it as well as rust of steel.
2. I'm guessing a lot. I'd also wager trying to eplain the fender in the bath tub to the wife will be even harder.
3. Depends on the fender. More for an LTD, less for a Civic.
