By Ulmus Oct 05, 2012#1 Have you ever run out of gun oil and wondered what you can use as an alternative? I have. (I also hate the price of gun oil and would love to use something that works eqaully well while letting me use my money for ammo instead.) Well Grant Cunningham has a whole page about alternate gun lubricants. Check it out and decide for yourself. www.grantcunningham.com/lubricants101.html

Oct 06, 2012#2 That was a well written summary of lubricants. I use Dex II on my AR and this will push me to use it on the rest of my guns, too.

Oct 06, 2012#3 Hydrolic oil or fluid is said to be ATF without the red dye. The same can be said for power steering fluid. The best thing about them is that they wont attack plastics. Everything Ive read about gun lubes seems to agree that they are almost all relabeled lubes with another commercial purpose. DR
