Picked up a box of .22 short ammo today at a yard sale for $5. Looks pretty old ...WESTERN is the brand. Going to try it out in one of my Rough Riders later today with hope that is actually fires.

I'm curious what the accuracy will be at ranges beyond twenty feet.

Only got to the range for a short time yesterday. Shot 24rds...had 4 ftf, and it seemed like the .22 shorts expansion was more than .22lr I shoot as they were harder to extract. Ammo is dirty for one.....accuracy...let's just say at 10yds I probably could spit a bullet out and be more accurate. Going to give the rest to my brother in law for his bolt action rifle and see how they do in it.

They'll also dirty up the chambers, making it harder to shove LRs in and get out the empties unless the chambers are cleaned well. So, do you not like your BIL?

Well using a Marlin model...15 with some letter after it...the .22 short ammo mostly fired ok...think there was 3 FTF. The accuracy was a little better from the rifle than it was using my revolver. After we shot the shorts we shot some Aguila SE 40gr high velocity ammo and it was like night and day for accuracy.....and zero FTF. My Marlin 60 is still with my stepson as my 18 year old grand daughters has it in her bedroom.
