 Never seen this before. LGS had a few boxes...1 per customer so I just got one to shoot in the Phoenix Arms which calls for Standard Velocity ammo only. It shot accurately and was cleaner than the Federal and Aguila I have. |

Yep. The real kicker is I have thousands of....and I am not exaggerating ... several thousands of.22 rds...but have none that are standard velocity. Wanted to at least give the new critter the benefit of a break in with the ammo it says to use. I have 300 more that I found online at $6.99 per 50....still not close to the $1.99 a box I was paying for the AMSCOR at Rural King. I might use some of the higher velocity (still close to the standard) once in a while, but I know what can happen to this HP22 using high or hyper ammo in it as a study diet.

Mine is about 70% SV/30% HV. SV is a mite quieter, I don't need HV to punch holes in paper or (empty) beer cans, and SV is easier on the semi-auto guns.

I was always trying to buy the copper coated HV to shoot from my CZ Kadet Kit...stupid me thinking that would also make it easier to clean my S/A revolvers. After shooting that SK ammo out of the HP22 I shot some thru my Wrangler this morning. only 24 rds, but the cylinder and the chambers were very clean, like I had not even fired a rd thru them. Also, I did just find I had some Eley Standard velocity ammo stuffed away in a ammo can along with some CCI quiets, segmented and a couple boxes of .22 mag ammo I have for the Rough Riders. Most of the .22 are bricks of Aguila Super Extra or Bluebox Federal Value packs.

Oddly, the only gun I have that's happiest with HV is my Bersa .22. Nary a hiccup with Mini Mags, but hates all SV I've tried.
