Was doing the look and wish for cheap ammo and came across a HP22 in stock for $149.95. Now I can hear the Bronx cheers already, but I had one a few years back and actually liked it a lot. Only cost me $115.00 back then though. Some slight adjustments and a few spring changes and it was 100% dependable and actually fairly accurate at 10yds. It is a fun little gun to take out and put some holes in used Coke cans and not have to clean a revolver....which I dislike as you might have seen me say before. Just hope it is as reliable as the first one I owned.

Congrats! Always fun to get a new gun. I've read enough from folks who actually own one and I wouldn't mind having one if I didn't have so many .22s already. And yes, I've read the whinings of the detractors too. Changing a spring and/or polishing a couple of surfaces is not a big deal.

Funny how people that never have owned a less expensive firearm like a Hi Point, Kel Tec. Heritage or Phoenix Arms are quick to put them down when the majority that have owned them....AND THIS IS THE KEY ...knew the limitations such as NO SUPER hyper velocity ammo, keep them clean and lubed, and did just a few little things to enhance them had little bad to say. I had a first generation SKKY....yep one of the original ones that after several hours of troubleshooting, replacing parts and many hair pulling moments I got it to be a accurate and dependable firing firearm.

I had a Hi Point. It ate everything I fed it with nary a hiccup. I wound up selling it because I just couldn't get past the ugly. Had a Kel-Tec SU-16, same story. Don't remember why I let go of it, but it wasn't because of functionality. I have four RRs, from a 3" birdshead to a 6" 9-shooter. No issues with service with any of them*. I think most problems (I said most, not all) stem from poor maintenance and abuse. Hi Points are an exception; they can stand up to both - there are youtube videos of owners deliberately trying to destroy the gun and failing.
*That being said, ever since Heritage was bought by Taurus, QC and CS have undeniably gone down the terlet. I guess I've been fortunate, since the only issue I had was pre-Taurus and customer service was exceptional, though it did take a bit of gentle prodding.

I was gonna ask if you changed out the usual suspects Keystone, but I saw elsewhere that you did.

It is another good one so far. Had to adjust the rear sight a couple of times...last 20 or so shots in the 9 and bulls circle. The MCarbo trigger springs kit makes a great deal of difference over the OEM. The heavy duty recoil spring gives it more control and better casing ejection. Well worth the sub $150 bucks so far.

Just picked up another HP22A. Found it tucked away in the corner of a counter display in a local Pawn shop. New with 2 boxes of .22ammo, out the door for $150! Just going to leave it stock ....might be a Christmas gift to a family member.
