I try to be open minded about new products from manufactures of firearms I have. Heritage has me baffled on the newest....the Barkeep. Like the 68 1/2 inch long barrel ( I do not own one so it might be slightly shorter) Joker special, I can not find a real reason to get excited about the 2 in barrel Barkeep. I guess it is because I do not carry a single action, .22 revolver for self defense. My Heritage Arms and Ruger Wranglers are fun range toys....nothing more. And as such I want the satisfaction of blowing the heck out of the center area of a target. A 2 in barrel just does not do it at my range distance of 10-12 yards.

I agree. Another thing I don't like is ejecting the spent casings with a single detatched rod. Guess I'm lazy, I like the ejector rod attattched to a spring inside the cylinder. I do however like the way it looks.

I agree with you both. In addition I think the plow handle was a poor choice, leaving the gun looking awkward, while a birdshead grip would look more balanced. That aside, I cannot fathom it being useful. IMO way too bulky for cc* and, with a 2" barrel, lacking in accuracy unless your standard is seven feet. Maybe they thought they'd corner the two-inch market just as they did the long barreled market with the Buntline. The longer barrel at least gives an edge in accuracy. I just don't see the Barkeep flying off store shelves.
*If you have to contend with the bulk of a .38, you might as well carry a .38.
