I was reminded today of how many modern firearms are like modern pickups. Full of high tech, complicated options that drive up the price and make simple maintenance and repairs a job for engineers. This made me appreciate the Rough Rider even more. It's simple yet robust design makes it easy to maintain and helps it last a long time. It might not be the fastest or the fanciest, but it will still get the job done.

OTOH, we do like our creature comforts. Sticking with the pickup analogy though, not many buyers today would pick Delete A/C or power steering/brakes/locks/windows, nor would anyone who understood the difference opt for a carburetor over fuel injection. But yeah, there's still a place in today's world for a stone simple truck, though it's usually not on the freeway.

I've had a 6.5" for over 15 years - back when the two cylinder models cost $139. It has never failed me. I like it so much, I bought another. Then another.
Then a 45 Colt model.

Is the old board completely dead and innacessible? It just hurts to see me listed a "new member" with 7 posts.
Any way of looking back and adjusting this? I'm not complaining, happy to be here.
Edited to add: I visited the Wayback Machine, and on the original board I was Big_Al, join date May 26, 2012, and on April 7, 2019 I had an indicated 82 posts.

Tapatalk's constant nagging for money got to be a bit much. Everyone who crossed over started as a new member with zero posts, even Ulmus. I don't know if there's a way to change your name if you want, but I can look into it. Glad to have you! ETA: I checked your profile and I don't have the ability to edit your screen name. Maybe Ulmus, once he sees this, will be able to.

Used to have a cig lighter, and always need a radio, but I agree, I still love my RR BUT, ( like loving an automatic transmission ) having a semi auto pistol is fun ! too

PM me with the name you'd like and I'll see if I can change it. As for the new member thing, that's built into the core program. 😕
