For those that don't know a squib is a round that lacks enough powder to even push the bullet out of the barrel. I took my granddaughter shooting, And she was shooting my bolt action 17 HMR. I noticed that she was having trouble cycling in the next round. Just to check I pulled the bolt and looked into the chamber and could see a bullet lodged in the barrel. It was far enough back to keep her from loading another round. I'm glad it was stuck there instead of farther down the barrel. If it had been stuck deeper she would have loaded another and fired it! I was able to push it out with a cleaning rod. This was a first for me! But others say it happens often enough. 17 Hmr doesn't have enough power to blow up a rifle but it would certainly blow out the mag and any rounds still in it!
The granddaughter was just as happy to shoot something else for awhile! DR
